Patrick Wayne Swayze was born in Houston Texas on August 18th 1952 and died on 14th September 2009 in Los Angeles California surrounded by his wife and family.
He had been first diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January 2008. He was the 2nd child of Patricia Karnes and Jesse Swayze. In 1972 he left for New York home to study ballet after completing gymnastics at San Jacinto College for two years.
He married Lisa Niemi on 12th June1975, although they met in 1970 when Lisa was 15 years old, and they remained so very happily married to her till the day he died. They had not be able to have any children of their own as Lisa has unfortunately miscarried twice.
We all remembered so vividly from his moves in 'Dirty Dancing' with Jennifer Grey in 1987 and let us not forget his role with Demi Moore in 'Ghosts'. He was a very talented dancer and actor and a singer. In 1991 he was voted the sexiest man alive.

He experienced many heartaches with his dad dying of heart attack in 1982 when he was 57 (Patrick also died at that age) and his sister Vicki died from suicide overdoses in 1994. Patrick then proceeded to battle his demons with alcohol.

He was severley injured breaking both of his legs and severing both four detached tendons of his shoulder when he fell off a horse in 1998 and hit a tree and his acting career was slow to pick up after that.

 

 He mentioned at a interview I saw this year with Barbara Walters and he wished he had not smoked as this seemed to be linked with pancreatic cancer. He fought so very ahrd to stay aive with alternative therapies and of course conventional ones but alas he he eventually died. He seems to outlive the time that most people die of this dreadful disease. His ashes were scatterd over his ranch in New Mexico.

 

So now Patrick we now salute you, a pose you kind of made your photo pose, and may you rest now Patrick, free from pain and know the fight you fought to stay alive was a galant one. Lisa will miss you so very much ... we will too!
