Intermediate Results 1961
A record 565 pupils sat for the first Intermediate Certificate
Examination in 1961. and 90% passed Bursaries were gained in External Examination
& 12 pupils to gain bursaries. 10 achieved. M Alphandary, M. Dickens, L.
Grimison, R. Ivimey, C Myatt, M. Rowan, R. Sandland, D. Sellers, J.
Solomons, R. Tindall.
In 1963 Leaving Certificate:
173 pupils were
presented& 158 gaining successful passes. R. Ivimey equal 27th place in
Leaving Certificate & Janet Solomons 80th place& University Bursaries
awarded to them.

Prize Giving Days
1959 it was treated as two schools and then 1960 R Ivimey was
dux of 2nd Year & 3rd year and again in 4th year .In the senior year e. A
Willis M.L.A, prize awarded in 1961 Scholarship, Sport, Service & John Herington
& Elaine Bock of 3rd year. In 1962 Ken Johnston & John Stowar were joint
winners whilst Laurel Howard won the girls section. Laurel also received and
award for training the schools' marching girl team.

Ron Graham was elected the
first School Captain in 1960-63. John Herington Vice Captain
1961-63. Jacqueline Mays was girls' Vice Captain. Judith Timmins was
girls' Captain 1962-63, Vice Captain in1962 senior Prefect in 1963 Chris
butler and Jill Ralston were Vice Captains in 1960.

The first school fete was held on 7th October 1959 and net
profit of £816 being made. the school band led by Mr
Noakes marched from Kingsgrove station led by Robyn Howard and the school
marching girls. Lucky Starr opened the fete.
The Ladies Auxiliary
The first meeting took place in February 1959 when volunteers
for the school canteen were called for. Mrs. J Acland a & Mrs. J Johnston
made up the roster. Mrs. Gelder took up manageress for 3 months and stayed
for 18 months. There were no fly screens doors, no electricity and it was not
painted. In 1960 they sold stationary and June 61 lovely hot soup.
Mrs. Morgan, Timmins, Stewart, Deveridge, Langham, Ward, & Johnston
were many of the wonderful mums who ran the canteen in those dim, dark days. Mrs.
Gelder was appointed full time a manageress in 1961-64.
- A souvenir cookbook was published 1959 Mrs. Spicer collected
recipes Mrs. Beves designed the cover. Daffodil Margarine a sponsor the and paid for covers
and paper. It sold for 3/- and made over £100
profit.
Many purchase were bought with their profits . Grand piano,
portable tape recorder, reading machines an internal telephone system and
electric duplicator and books for the library. They also paid for a gardener one
day a week then, later two days a week.
