John Denver born on December 31st 1943 and died on
12th October 1997, the same year as Princess Diana, in a two-seat light plane
along the California coast. It was and engine failure around 5pm, plunging him
into ocean waters just past Monterey Bay. John was 53 John Denver earned
international fame writing songs performing acting, was foremost in
environmental issues and humanitarian. John’s music lasted over 3three decades
and many styles during that era.
Denver's first marriage was to Annie Martell. Annie was the inspiration for his
hit "Annie's Song". He and Annie adopted a son Zachary and daughter Anna Kate as
he was unfortunately infertile. He divorced Annie in 1982. His 2nd marriage was
to Australian actress and singer Cassandra Delaney in 1988. They had a daughter
named Jesse Belle, after Denver had medical treatment for his infertility. They
divorced in 1993.
My favourite song he sang was Annie's Song and many of his songs were being
played during a very difficult time in my life. I often sit and listen to this
song and think back. What if!
For him his life was believed he had some issues with drinks and drugs, quite
typical of this time, and for me, will only say, just more dramas..
John's death came as shock to me seeing him on the TV again and his songs being
played on radio. I loved his speaking voice and his views on the environment.
May you rest in peace John. |
