We learnt to swim in the pool at Ramsgate and the public Baths at Brighton and Ramsgate. Ramsgate Baths 1926 . No, I am not in the picture.

Ramsgate Rd 1915

 

The shopping centre of Ramsgate began to develop in 1887. Ramsgate's development improved when they built the causeway across Beverly Park in 1906.  Ramsgate Road was extended to Botany Bay in 1907. Steam trams were used to get around but  because they were unclean  and belching out smoke they were replaced by the trolley buses in 1937.

The other way across the Georges River was Tom Ugly's Bridge, see the below the punt that did that job then now the Tom Ugly's Bridge takes you over the river.
