Galea, Said, Watson, Doyle. These are on my husband's side of the family.

AHRENFELD, Bonita b.c.1868 in Victoria, d. 3 September 1938 at Rydalmere, NSW age 70 – D/C stated that her parents were William ROBERTSON and Bessie HINES and her husbands name was John.   There were two children – John b.c. 1908 and Reginald b.c.1913.  She had m. 1886 (age 18) to Jack BRANSCOMB (no issue) and (at age 25) 1893 to John AHRENFELD, possibly in Victoria.  I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO VERIFY ANY INFORMATION EXCEPT FOR HER DEATH.  CAN ANYONE HELP?

AHRENFELD, Edward Jacob b. 1834, Liverpool, England, m. c. 1855 (London)  McKINNON  Christina b. 1843 Fort Augustus, Scotland.  I have been unable to verify their birth or marriage dates.  His parents names were Jacob & Eliza but I believe that he was b. in Lancashire.  I was given details of a family of AHRENFELD'S, who had a son Edward born in the right time area but his mother was given as Sophia.   It is possible hat there is a connection but at this time have been unable to sort it out.  ANY HELP WITH THESE FAMILIES WOULD BE APPRECIATED.  Edward arrived in Melbourne, Victoria on 22 May 1857 on the “Grand Trianon” with Christina & two children.  The shipping log recorded that he came from Lancashire and that he was a carter.  This is a query, as he was shown as a Law Clerk in London, on the B/C of his daughter Janet/Jeanette b. 1862.  On most of the birth/death certificates, he was shown as a Mining Engineer.  They had a large family, who apart from the two that arrived with them, were b. in Victoria.  I have details of most of Edward & Christina’s descendants.  He remarried after Christina’s death and had one daughter.

AHRENFELD, Jacob m. Eliza (possibly England, maybe Europe).  I have one son Edward Jacob b.c. 1834 (see above). There were other children and may be connected to Jacob & Sophia listed below.  Does anyone know the date of the marriage and Eliza’s surname?

Sophia (possibly England, maybe Europe) probably before 1837, when I have the date of one son’s (Alfred) birth?   There were other siblings including an Edward and two girls with the same names as two of Edward Jacob’s sisters.  Details provided by contacts in England.  Does anyone have the marriage date and Sophia’s surname?

When one grows older, we tend to think of the past and how things used to be. For me it is more prevalent now as am now reaching the time in my life that I would like to write about the past and my life as child as a Baby Boomer.

I recall my life as a small child when there was a wireless to listen to, an ice chest to keep things cold. Back then we had the Davis Cup firmly in our grasp.

I have wonderful memories of my Maternal Grandparents, and learning to cook and knit from my Grandmother. I recall picking all her flowers, much to the annoyance of my grandfather. He always took me to the  Easter Show, bought me all the bags I could carry and I hold these memories in a special part of my heart.

I have lived in the St George area of Sydney all of my life. I recall walking to Taren Point Bridge before the two opposite sides met up. The trolley buses that ran from Ramsgate to Kogarah and tram that were in Sydney.

The Age of Aquarius, now that puts a  smile on face thinking of that time. The Vietnam war, walking on the moon was happening in my teenage years.. The Beatles, Rock and Roll in fact dancing and music was the best time of my teenage years.

My Dad loved music and I listened to him sing and play Al Jolsen 78 records. Broadway shows have always been a major part of my life and musicals. Oh how I love those. I actually have always enjoyed music and all types, from classical to rock…no rap, or Jazz are in my collection though. My dear Father passed away in 1975. He died so young at the age of 52.

Our past now will be preserved better than ever before with the use of computers and the Internet. Now that I have learnt what the Internet can provide and the wonderful software programs that assist you in helping you begin your Family Tree, I have been searching Genealogy sites to help me begin that journey.

These are some of the sites I have visited and bookmark for reference when I start my journey into my past Ancestors. From some of my documents I have found some of my relatives came from Scotland, and some were Jewish. Some went to the USA in Utah. In the beginning I thought I would not need a program that was USA based and then I found some relatives had gone to the US, so how wrong I was.
