While you're in the shower, inhale the steam as deeply as you can. It will help loosen any nasal stuffiness. This also helps if you have a deep Bronchial cough.
Wring out a towel in hot water and sprinkle a generous portion of meat tenderiser on the towel. Apply directly to the sting, re-treating the towel every five minutes for about half an hour. The hot towel causes the pores of your skin to open, and the tenderiser neutralizes the venom. If you do this quickly enough after the Hornet's bite, there is no pain or swelling.
Use peppermints to cover breath problems after consuming Garlic.
    From Grandma:

ARTHRITIS: Bags of cherry stones may offer comfort and some benefit, according to Jo Cumming, who heads the helpline at Arthritis Care. Clean and dry the stones and put them into little fabric bags. They can be microwaved or wrapped in foil or put in a pot with a lid and heated in the oven before being placed on the affected area.

ASTHMA: A traditional French remedy is to drink two cups of strong black coffee. French grandmothers also recommended garlic oil, which is reputed to boost the body’s defences. Place two cloves of garlic in 50cl of olive oil. Apply to the soles of the feet and the base of the spine and massage gently.

BACK PAIN: Hot and cold compresses can ease pain. A traditional method involved applying two towels, one wrung out with very hot water, the other with cold, alternately.

CHILLS: A few drops of tincture of lavender on a sugar lump is a lovely tummy warmer.

COLD AND CHAPPED HANDS:  To avoid chapped hands grind common starch with a knife until it is reduced to a fine powder. After washing hands, rinse thoroughly and while still damp rub a pinch of starch over them.

COLD SORES: As soon as the first symptoms are detected put honey on the affected area. Keep the sore dry and apply the honey as often as possible.

COLDS: Ward off a cold by eating two nasturtium leaves and one flower. Nasturtium has antimicrobial and decongestant properties. Or try dicing an onion and sprinkle with sugar and leave overnight. In the morning, collect the syrup that has formed and take one tablespoon twice a day.

CORNS: Take a slice of onion and leave it to soak in vinegar for a few hours. At bedtime place the onion over the corn and hold in place with a plaster. Next morning, soak your foot in hot water. Repeat until the “eye” of the corn comes away.

COUGHS AND CHESTY COLDS: Slice a turnip or swede, place it in a dish and cover with brown sugar. Leave overnight. The juice that drains off is soothing and palatable. Drink the syrup the next morning to help expel phlegm. Boil 25g (1oz) of peeled and bruised liquorice in one pint of water for a few minutes. The sweetness in liquorice comes from the compound glycyrrhizin and has been shown to have antiviral properties.

EARACHE: Fry garlic gently in a little oil. When it has cooled but is still warm, dip a ball of cotton wool into it. Place the cotton wool gently into the ear and leave overnight.

Ensure the sting is fully removed. Cut an onion in half and apply the freshly-cut side directly over the puncture mark to reduce swelling and pain.

FEVER: Take a bunch of parsley and chop it, leaves and stem together. Use one dessert spoon of chopped parsley to one large cup of water. Bring to the boil. Simmer for two to three minutes, strain and drink.

HEADACHE: Lavender oil applied to the temples or in a cold compress applied to the forehead or the back of the neck was a remedy used in Victorian times or even earlier.

INDIGESTION AND HEARTBURN: Potato juice is a time-honoured way to relieve stomach cramps. In many parts of Europe it is still possible to buy raw potato juice, which is a traditional remedy for heartburn. Other suggestions include drinking a glass of milk. People with stomach ulcers are often advised to drink a glass of milk before a meal “to line the stomach”.

INSOMNIA: Lettuce sandwiches and a glass of hot milk or lettuce soup during the evening can help. Lettuce contains a natural opiate called lactucarium and has a soporific effect.

Make a paste of oatmeal softened with honey. Rub into the affected areas and leave for 20 minutes or so. Wash off with lots of cool water.

MINOR BURNS: Grate a potato and place it on the burn to relieve the pain. When the potato turns brown or the pain returns, repeat. A French remedy is to cut an onion and apply it directly. This will sting, so takes courage. The remedy can be improved if you add a pinch of salt but this takes even more courage.

MOUTH ULCERS: Chewing a stick of liquorice can help and also freshen the mouth. Another remedy is making a mouthwash with myrrh oil, which has antiseptic qualities. BEE STINGS

NAPPY RASH: After washing and drying the baby’s bottom, apply the white of a raw egg to the rash. Allow to dry before putting on a clean nappy. Repeat each changing time.

Or try kneading soft white bread into a ball. Punch a clove of garlic into the centre of the ball, then chew the ball of the bread as slowly and for as long as possible.

SMALL CUTS: Wind a cobweb around any cuts. Recent research shows spiders coat their silk in antiseptic agents.

SMELLY FEET: The French believe in tea to aid sore or smelly feet. Rich in tannins, it contains drying agents and astringents and will slow the perspiration which is the main cause of bad odour. Put two or three teabags into four litres (about seven pints) of water. Boil for 10 minutes. Allow to cool. Soak the feet for half an hour before drying.

SORE EYES: To remove grit or a stray eyelash from the eye, chop a very large fresh onion. As your eyes water, the foreign body should float away.

SORE NOSE: When your nose becomes cracked and sore wipe the inside of it with honey. It has antiseptic and soothing properties.

SORE THROAT: Heat up half a pint of milk. Add some cloves of garlic, a teaspoon of butter and some honey to your taste. Drink a whole mug before going to bed.

SPLINTERS: To draw out a splinter, cut a small piece of soap, add some sugar and apply to the affected area. Within hours the skin should have softened up enough for the splinter to come out easily. A paste of flour and castor oil should yield the same results.

SPOTS: Many traditional remedies feature honey, which destroys bacteria, or oatmeal which is abrasive.

SPRAINS: Make a paste of egg white, turmeric and salt. The paste sticks like glue to the sprained joint, holding the muscles and ligaments in place. After several days there will be real improvement.

STIFF NECK: A salt bag, warmed in the oven, is then held against the neck. It is comforting and said to reduce the swelling and discomfort. A variation on this remedy is to take a large potato, boil it until it is soft and place it in a long woollen sock. Then mash it until it becomes a soothing poultice for the patient’s neck.

STYES: Rub the affected area gently with a gold ring. It is thought the ring creates a little warmth as it “massages” the eye area, bringing the little boil to a head.

TIRED FEET: Rub them with a little vodka as this will numb them.

VERRUCAS AND WARTS: Take the end off a fresh radish and cut a thin slice. Rub the slice over the verruca for a few seconds and then throw it away. Repeat regularly. Traditional remedies for removing warts include rubbing it with the white sap from a dandelion, oil of lemon or even the underskin of a banana.

    Peroxide:

Peroxide was invented during WWI.  It was used to save and help cleanse the needs of our troops and hospitals.  Please think about this. I know my dad always used this.

    1. Take one capful (the little white cap that comes with the bottle) and hold in your mouth for 10 minutes daily, then spit it out.  (I do it when I bathe.)  No more canker sores, and your teeth will be whiter without expensive pastes. Use it instead of mouthwash...

    2. Let your toothbrushes soak in a cup of peroxide to keep them free of germs.

    3. Clean your counters and table tops with peroxide to kill germs and leave a fresh smell.  Simply put a little on your dishrag when you wipe down your countertops, or spray it on the counters directly.

    4. After rinsing off your wooden cutting board, pour peroxide on it to kill salmonella and other bacteria.

    5. I had fungus on my feet for years until I sprayed a 50/50 mixture of Peroxide and water on them (especially the toes) every night and let dry.

    6. Soak any infections or cuts in 3% peroxide for five to ten minutes several times a day. My husband has seen gangrene that would not heal with any medicine but was healed by soaking in peroxide.

    7. Fill a spray bottle with a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and water and keep it in every bathroom to disinfect without harming your septic system like bleach or most other disinfectants will.

    8. Tilt your head back and spray into nostrils with your 50/50 mixture whenever you have a cold, plugged sinus.  It will bubble and help to kill the bacteria.  Hold for a few minutes, and then blow your nose into a tissue.

    9. If you have a terrible toothache and cannot get to a dentist right away, put a capful of 3% peroxide into your mouth and hold it for ten minutes several times a day.  The pain will lessen greatly.

10... Put half a bottle of peroxide into your bathwater to help rid boils, fungus, or other skin infections.

    11. You can also add a cup of peroxide instead of bleach to a load of whites in your laundry to whiten them.  If there is blood on
clothing, pour it directly on the soiled spot.  Let it sit for a minute, then rub it and rinse with cold water. Repeat if necessary.

    12. I use peroxide to clean my mirrors.  There is no smearing, which is why I love it so much for this
