ONLY A BABY
- Only a baby small,
- Dropped from the skies;
- Only a laughing face,
- Two sunny eyes.
-
- Only two cherry lips,
- One chubby nose.
- Only two little hands
- Ten little toes..
-
- Only a golden head,
- Curly and soft;
- Only a tongue that wags
- Loudly and oft.
-
- Only a little brain
- Empty of thought;
- Only a little heart
- Troubled with naught.
-
- Only a tender flower
- Sent us to rear;
- Only a life to love
- While we are here.
- Only a baby small
- Never to rest;
- Small, but how dear to us
- God knoweth best.

NEW BABY
- A new little baby
to cuddle and love
To spoil just a little
and think the world of,
A bundle from Heaven
to simply adore,
Now who in the world
could ask for more!

-
- Gentle Jesus meek and mild,
- Look upon his little child;
- Pity my simplicity;
- Suffer me to come to thee.
- Fain I would to Thee be
brought,
- Glorious God, forbid it not;
- In the kingdom of Thy grace
- Grant Thy little child a place.

THE
LITTLE STAR
-
- Twinkle, twinkle little star;
- how I wonder what you are;
- Up above the world so high,
- Like a diamond din the sky.
-
- when the blazing sun is gone,
- When he nothing shines upon,
- then you show your little
light,
- Twinkle, twinkle, all through
the night.
-
- Then the traveller in the dark,
- Thanks you for your tiny spark;
- He could tell which way to
go
- If you did not twinkle so.
-
- In the dark blue sky you keep,
- And often through my curtains
peep;
- For you never shut your eye
- Till the sun is in the sky.
-
- As your bright and tiny spark
- Lights the traveller in the
dark,
- Through I know not what you
are,
- Twinkle, twinkle , little star.

PLAYGROUNDS
-
- In summer I am very glad
- We children are so small,
- For we can see a thousand
things
- That men can't see at all.
-
- They don't know much the moss
- And all the stones they pass,
- They never lie and play among
- The forest and the grass.
-
- They walk about along way off;
- And when they're at the sea,
- Let Father stoop as best he can
- He can't find things like em.
-
- But when the snow is on the
ground
- And all the puddles freeze,
- I wish I was very tall,
- High above the trees.

FAIRIES

-
- There are fairies at the bottom
of our garden!
- It's not so very, very far
away;
- You pass the gardener's shed
and you just keep straight ahead -
- I do so hope they've really
come to stay.
- There's a little wood, with
moss in it and beetles
- And a little stream that
quietly runs through;
- You wouldn't think they'd dare
to come merry-making there -
- Well, they do.
- There are fairies at the bottom
of our garden!
- They often have a dance on
summer nights;
- The butterflies and bees make a
lovely little breeze,
- And the rabbits stand about and
hold the lights.
- Did you know that they could
sit upon the moonbeams
- And pick a little star to make
a fan,
- And dance away up there in the
middle of the air?
- Well, they can.
- There are fairies at the bottom
of our garden!
- You cannot think how beautiful
they are;
- They all stand up and sing when
the Fairy Queen and King
- Come gently floating down upon
their car.
- The King is very proud and very
handsome;
- The Queen - now can you guess
who that could be
- (She's a little girl all day,
but at night she steals away)?
- Well - it's Me!

- I LOVE TO BE FAIRY CHILD
-
- Children born of Fairy stock
- Never need for shirt or frock,
- Never want for food or fire,
- Always get their hearts desire:
- Jingle pockets full of gold,
- Marry when their seven years
old.
- Every fairy child may keep
- Two ponies and ten sheep;
- All have houses, each their
own,
- Built of brick or granite
stone;
- They live on cherries, they run
wild-
- I'd love to be fairy child.
- Robert Graves.
