Margaret and Stephen Clarke standing in front of the 2nd Division Memorial at Mont St Quentin prior to walk up the Mont October 2007 where Uncle Perc was during WW1.

We have walked along Elsa Trench and Mont St Quentin again now and we feel now so connected with Uncle Perc's battles and we know he would be proud of David, myself and Matthew to taking the time out of to see it thoroughly.

Walking With The Anzacs by Mat McLachalan An absolutely must have to tour the area. We owe our very successful tour to his book (worth its weight in gold) and of course my fabulous and very clever husband David, who drive the entire time.

Western Front Diaries by Jonathan King , where on the back cover it mentions my Uncle Perc and on pages 133, 152, 153, 154, 274, 277, 280-282, 285, 286, 336, 343, 435, and has pictures of the family of Smythe boys who went to war.  I am so proud that Uncles Perc's diary has now been given some respect and  some well deserved acknowledgement. Uncle Perc's account quoted by Jonathan King said on radio was the best he had seen. I was born on his birthday so he was kind of Special to me.
